Empowering Women Leaders in Canada’s Pharma Sector

While I specialize in writing about health and medicine, I have covered gender equity—or rather, the lack of it—in the business world, particularly at the leadership level.

It’s a topic that can feel discouraging at times. Here we are in 2024, and we’re still grappling with this problem.

So it was a pleasure to learn that one sector in Canada could teach the rest of us a thing or two about doing so.

At the companies that belong to the organization Innovative Medicines Canada, women hold 52.7 per cent of executive leadership positions. What’s more, nine of the 13 members of the IMC board itself—that’s 71 per cent—are women.
