After an ACL Injury

When I took up health writing, I never imagined that would one day involve interviewing a Canadian pro football player. Not only is Everton Williams, formerly with the Hamilton Tiger Cats, a pleasant, interesting person to talk to, he’s got one of the best phone voices I’ve run across — and I’ve spent a good proportion of my career on the phone! Are you listening, radio station managers and podcasters? He’s a natural!

Mr. Williams spoke to me about the ACL tear that could very well have cut short his career before it even began. But thankfully, excellent care —  including surgery to repair the ligament and stabilize his knee — enabled him to get back on the field even earlier than predicted. To learn ore about him, and a Canadian researcher who is working on finding even better methods of treating ACL tears, read my story, Back in the Game.

This is just one example of the amazing research that’s taking place at Toronto’s Krembil Research Institute (part of UHN). You can read more in the Krembil Arthritis 2019 magazine.
